We usually recommend that our customers place our Fire Pit up on a piece of flagstone or some kind of pavers to help protect the hardscape under the Fire Pit. Ash will most likely fall from the Rain Drain and also the steel may cause some rust transfer that will be more noticeable on lighter hardscapes. Any kind of masonry product like flagstone or brick pavers can be found at either a local lawn and garden store or in the outdoor section at a big box DIY store. ( https://ohioflame.com/pages/faq)
